Source: cheesierthanthemoonFebruary 11, 2012: Saturday morning, we woke up early to go help at Walker Elementary’s Rehearse-a-thon. They get all the bands (5th and 6th graders, but there are three bands since everyone in the school is required to do some music) to practice for a few hours then have a pizza party. I sat in and played with Band 1, played Grade 1 music. It was a bit rocky to play with 5th graders who were inexperienced after playing with such high level musicians at school, but honestly, it was refreshing. I loved being able to teach them some stuff and just see how the students and the director operated.
Afterwards, picked up my computer from my workplace, then caught up on Tumblr =P
I was going to do laundry, but procrastinated a ton…so yeah, that didn’t happen. But it was a friend’s birthday, and her mom was in town, so a bunch of us went out to dinner at Guadalajara, a great Mexican place. It was nice to just sit and talk with them for awhile =)
That night, I went to a sorority date function with a good friend of mine. She asked me to go, and I was a bit hesitant, but I’d never gone to one before, and I’d had to turn her down twice due to me not being in town both times…pure coincidence…so I went. It was actually a lot of fun! There was some borderline gross grinding going on, buttttttttttttt, I dealt with it, and we had a blast.
This picture is of the amphitheatre at my school. I took it on the way to my work. When I first got to UVA, I thought that would be my place of solace. Go there to relax, not talk to anyone, sort out problems, maybe listen to music (they apparently stopped doing “Symphony Under the Stars” the year I got here…so mad). But that didn’t really happen. Still, I love it.
